Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates says ChatGPT will change the world by making office jobs more efficient

Microsoft and ChatGPT have a long history together. Years ago, the tech giant invested in OpenAI, the parent company of ChatGPT, and the two companies recently strengthened their partnership. Microsoft has made headlines recently after unveiling the all-new Bing, which includes enhanced AI capabilities aimed at redefining how people search for information online. And now, Microsoft’s co-founder, Bill Gates, has also expressed his views on ChatGPT and has said that it will ‘change the world.

Bill Gates on ChatGPT

According to a Reuters report that was originally attributed to the German daily Handelsblatt, Bill Gates stated that ChatGPT will make office jobs easier and will change the world we live in.

He stated, “Until recently, artificial intelligence could read and write but not comprehend the content. Many office jobs will be made more efficient by new programmes such as ChatGPT, which will assist in the creation of invoices and letters. This will alter the course of history.”

AI comments from Bill Gates

Bill Gates spoke about his interest in artificial intelligence during his annual Ask Me Anything event on Reddit held last month. The billionaire responded, “AI is the major one,” when a user questioned him about his thoughts on the enormous technological transition that is taking place right now. He continued by saying that whereas Web3 or Metaverse weren’t all that popular, AI is actually pretty “revolutionary.”

Gates clarified his opinions on ChatGPT in a different response: “It offers a preview of things to come. This entire strategy and the pace of innovation impress me.” Additionally, he added that he was “watching this very closely.”

Microsoft’s most recent AI announcement

Microsoft unveiled its latest AI-powered product, a new version of Bing that will run on a new OpenAI large language model that is “more powerful than ChatGPT and customised specifically for search,” last week. The company also announced Edge browser updates. Microsoft’s announcement coincided with Google’s announcement of Bard, a competitor to ChatGPT.

In an interview with The Verge, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella stated that healthy competition in the search market will mean more money not only for them, but also for publishers and advertisers. He further said that when it comes to the search engine market, Google is the ‘800 pound gorilla on this’ but with the innovation that Microsoft brings, they (Google) will definitely want to come out and ‘dance’.
